Judith Stockdale, Executive Director

Judith joined the foundation in 1994. Previously, she was the first executive director of the Great Lakes Protection Fund, an endowment created by the governors of seven of the Great Lake states to better their joint environmental management. She was a senior staff associate of the Chicago Community Trust and executive director of Openlands Project. A native of the United Kingdom, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in geography from Durham University (U.K.) and a Master of Forest Science degree from Yale University. She is a director of the Nuveen Funds, is on the board of the Donors Forum, and has served on several nonprofit boards and government advisory commissions.
