Elizabeth Hagood has served as the chairman of the South Carolina Board of Health and Environmental Control, the founding executive director of the Lowcountry Open Land Trust, and the director of conservation for the Coastal Conservation League. In recognition of her broad community service devoted to the preservation of the area’s natural resources and quality of life, she was recently presented the Order of the Palmetto, the state’s highest citizen award.
